Consistent Results Through Two Decades of Changing Market Environments
As manager of Baird Funds' fixed income offerings, Baird Advisors takes an all-weather approach designed to control risk while adding incremental value through yield curve positioning, sector allocation, security selection and competitive execution.
This consistent discipline has provided strong relative performance for clients over the senior leaders’ nearly four decades of managing fixed income portfolios together. And that remains true as three of the teams' funds mark their 20th anniversary.
"What is most gratifying for us is that our time-tested approach has worked for both clients who were with us from the start and the many newer clients who have joined us along the way," said Mary Ellen Stanek, CFA, Managing Director, Chief Investment Officer and President of Baird Funds. "We could not be more proud of the hard work and dedication of our team who have consistently shown up to serve our clients day in and day out, across many different environments."
In addition to these three original funds, the team manages seven other all-weather bond funds. All have been managed by the same core team using a risk-controlled, duration-neutral approach – that holds up well during challenging market environments.

Morningstar Category: Intermediate Core Bond Funds
The Morningstar Rating™ for funds, or "star rating", is calculated for managed products with at least a three-year history. Exchange-traded funds and open-ended mutual funds are considered a single population for comparative purposes. It is calculated based on a Morningstar Risk-Adjusted Return measure that accounts for variation in a managed product's monthly excess performance, placing more emphasis on downward variations and rewarding consistent performance. The Morningstar Rating does not include any adjustment for sales loads. The top 10% of products in each product category receive 5 stars, the next 22.5% receive 4 stars, the next 35% receive 3 stars, the next 22.5% receive 2 stars, and the bottom 10% receive 1 star. The Overall Morningstar Rating for a managed product is derived from a weighted average of the performance figures associated with its 3-, 5-, and 10-year (if applicable) Morningstar Rating metrics. While the 10-year overall star rating formula seems to give the most weight to the 10-year period, the most recent 3-year period actually has the greatest impact because it is included in all three rating periods. © 2020 Morningstar, Inc.
